Reinhilde Veugelers

Biography

Reinhilde Veugelers is a Professor at KU Leuven’s Department of Managerial Economics, Strategy and Innovation. She has been a Senior Fellow at Bruegel since 2009. She is also a Research Fellow at the Centre for Economic Policy Research, a member of the Royal Flemish Academy of Belgium for Sciences and Arts and of the Academia Europaea.

From 2004 to 2008 she took academic leave and served as an adviser at the European Commission. She was President of the European Association for Research in Industrial Economics from 2007 to 2009. She currently serves on the European Research Council’s Scientific Council and is a member of the Research, Innovation and Science Policy Experts (RISE) Group advising the European Commissioner for Research, Science and Innovation. She has been a visiting scholar at several academic institutions, including Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management, the Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and SciencesPo.

Professor Veugelers’ research focuses on industrial organisation, international economics, and strategy, innovation and science, and she has authored numerous publications in leading international journals. Recent topics include radical innovations, global innovation value chains and innovation for climate change.
